Presentation: The Age of the Algorithm is Over

Healthcare BI Summit, 2012

An overview of changes in healthcare data, cost drivers and the shift from the classic 'data warehouse' to real-time data analysis and exchange.  An example of PreVista results for the standard "predict costs for Year 2 based on Year 1" is included at the end.

Presentation: Focus on Risk, Cost and Chronic Conditions

Healthcare BI Summit webinar, 2013

Most healthcare costs are driven by a small percentage of the population with ten chronic conditions. The most complex is diabetes, with a host of co-morbid conditions that make prediction particularly difficult.  This PreVista project focused on the toughest example, with age ranging from 1 to 91, and claim costs from $3 to $421,915 -- a true test.

Sample Data: PreVista Identifies High Risk Patients Who Will Improve

Analysis completed in 2013

One of the more interesting discoveries we made during an analytic project in 2013 was the ability to identify high-risk members who would actually improve -- contrary to every standard 'risk score'.  This raised interesting questions, e.g. "Was there a difference in care, drugs or genetic factors?"  The ability to find these positive outliers is also helpful for care / disease management; these patients will not need the same level of costly oversight.

PreVista Identifies Pill Mills and Narcotic Abuse

Analysis completed in 2014

PreVista can also find any pattern in your data.  In this case we analyzed pharma claims for a client, and PreVista identified a group of members who purchased unusual quantities of narcotics -- and the hidden network of 'pill mill' prescribers these members used. Although East Bay Labs does not typically provide report services, we created a set of special reports that allowed the client to quickly identify apparent addicts and prescribers -- with maps and drill-down to detailed script records.
